Success Stories:

There are so many great examples of how Reach for Youth staff have helped some challenged young people reach success. Here are a few. We will continue to be adding new stories and occasionally offering updates to past stories. Please return over time to review them.

Individual and Family Treatment for Sexually Maladaptive Youth

Reach for Youth provides individual and family therapy services for children and adolescents with sexually maladaptive behavior issues at both our locations.

Our therapists, with specialized training in this area, provide individual and family treatment is available for children and teens 6-18. For any child 6-12 years old who are acting-out sexually, for any females (6-18), or for males, 12 and older, who cannot function in a group treatment setting, individual and family therapy will be provided.

To enroll a child or teen in individual therapy for sexually maladaptive youth, the youth and their parent/guardian must first complete a psycho-sexual evaluation. For young children acting-out sexually, a modified traditional psycho-social evaluation is appropriate. Upon completion of the evaluation, therapist, child and parent will discuss the treatment recommendations. Follow-up appointments will then be scheduled, most typically in weekly or bi-weekly intervals.

Individual and family therapy sessions are scheduled for one hour. Morning, afternoon, and evening appointments are available for individual and family therapy at our two locations. While the main portion of individual therapy sessions are spent with that child, parents/guardians will be expected to attend with the child to give updates on how things are going for that child. Individual and Family therapy are occasionally recommended to supplement group therapy for youth enrolled in the Reach for Youth Adolescent Sexual Offenders Treatment Program (ASOTP) Group.
