Outpatient Psychiatry
Reach for Youth has a board-certified, licensed medical doctor on our staff who specializes in psychiatric services for children and adolescents. For some children and teens, medication is helpful in supplementing their treatment.
Only youth actively engaged in counseling is able to utilize the Reach for Youth Outpatient Psychiatry Services. Psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medical check-up appointments are available at scheduled times for youths referred by a Reach for Youth therapist. Children and adolescents demonstrating clinical need for medication are referred to the Outpatient Psychiatry Program. Some diagnoses we treat include, but are not limited to:
- Depressive Disorders
- Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorder
- Anxiety Disorders
Youth are referred to the Outpatient Psychiatry Program by their regular Reach for Youth therapist who thinks that medicine may be necessary to supplement their regular treatment. When that recommendation is made, an evaluation appointment will be scheduled with the doctor.
Psychiatry appointments are provided on specific mornings and early afternoons at our North Indianapolis location. Evaluation appointments typically last 45 minutes to one hour. Ongoing Medical Checkup appointments are scheduled for 15 minutes each. Both the child and their parent/guardian must be at all psychiatry appointments.
