The Truth Initiative reports that 1 out of every 5 middle and high school students have seen a vape used in school. The vape industry has opened its doors appealing to a younger audience with sweet and fruity flavors and is easily obtainable to minors. This is increasingly apparent with copycat products that are harder to regulate. Now with 1,299 cases of lung illness linked to vaping and 29 deaths, it is time to #EscapeTheVape.
The increase in vaping among youth is rising at such alarming rate that the U.S. Surgeon General is calling it an epidemic that “demands action to protect the lives of young people”.
In Indiana, the use of e-cigarettes and vaping among youth has risen more than 350 percent among high school and middle school students since 2012, according the ISDH. Furthermore, Indiana teens are more likely to use vaping devices than cigarettes.
