Mark, age 14, was referred to us for possession of marijuana on school property through our Alternative To Expulsion (ATE) Program.
After a thorough assessment, it was recommended that he participate in the substance abuse group as well as individual and family counseling sessions.
At first, his family was very inconsistent, but through partnering with the school and communication with the parent, services became more consistent.
We partner with Indiana School Districts:
Reach For Youth provides counseling as an alternative to expulsion or suspension, seeking out the root of an issue before it becomes a lifelong obstacle.
When Mark began the ATE program, he had failing grades and was suspended.
When he completed the program, he did not have any failing grades, his drug screens were negative and he received no additional sanctions from the school.
We were also able to support the parent/child relationship during family sessions.
